Cynthia began her career by modeling in New York. After a brief period Cynthia signed a five-year contract for a 5-year contract with Wihelmina Models. It led to a hugely successful book and cover for Essence Magazine. Cynthia's Essence first cover became one of its most popular covers, but it was also Susan Taylor's favorite. Cynthia was able to secure her second cover within a few days and set up the scene for a lengthy career. Her next move was to Paris and Milan and Milan, which was where she walked down the runways of Paris and Milan Fashion Week. Cynthia has lived overseas for nearly one year, came back to New York City where she was very in demand. Advertising campaigns for Maybelline Oil of Olay Macy's as well as Macy's were her initial assignments. Vogue's, Glamour's, Elle's Essence's Vanity Fair magazine editorials soon came in. One of Cynthia's most memorable career moments was being chosen ahead of Naomi Campbell for a co-starring role opposite Sandra Bernhadt in the film "Without You I'm Nothing."
