Scarlett Johansson (born November 22 1984 New York City New York, U.S.) American actress and vocalist whose dramatic varied performances earned her the acclaim of fans across a range of styles from period dramas to action thrillers and thrillers. Johansson is the daughter of a film director and architect, was born as a child in New York City. The twin brothers Hunter as well as her mother were her youngest siblings. As early as age seven, she was already auditioning for television commercials. She enrolled shortly after at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute and afterwards went to the Professional Children's School in Manhattan for further training in her craft. In the Off-Broadway play Sophistry she performed with Ethan Hawke at age 8 as well as in North produced by Rob Reiner in 1994 she began her film debut. Johansson was later seen on screen in Just Cause (1995) but her first breakthrough came with Manny & Lo (1996) an upcoming film that follows siblings who are orphaned and run away. Then, she was awarded critical praise for portraying the role of a teenager who been injured and left her disfigured as she appeared in The Horse Whisperer (1998). She was drawn to acting when she was a little girl. Smith's parents were supportive of her landing her first acting role when she was six. Smith was in the Dannon commercial on TV. Like many other actresses starting out she decided to hone her craft within the arena of theatre. In the time she staged her debut with Wildflower she was also working with various theatre projects in the USA. Her education was at the Stonestreet Studios Conservatory of the New York University Tisch School of the Arts.
